Jana Kleitsch

The last time I saw her she was driving us to the airport when our ride didn’t show up. But it turns out we left the car seat in the car and couldn’t get a hold of her until she was already back home. She had to break into our house, retrieve the keys to our car again and drive back out to the airport.

Now that’s a neighbor to have! (Although my husband did help extinguish the spontaneous combustion fire in her house too, but that’s another story.)

Way back in the day… I was… say 10 at the time. My grandma, who is a very Finnish lady, took me to the Nordic Heritage Museum in Ballard. I didn’t know where we were, except that we had to take a ferry from Bainbridge Island after we drove a few miles up 305 from Poulsbo. Anyway, we got there and we sat in this dining room area with a stage at one side. On the stage there was a production of “Santa Lucia.” Years later, when I was about 27 or so, I went with my wife and my daughter to this same Museum in Ballard and who did I meet but JANA KLEITSCH!!!! What a coincident!

I have run out of cheers, so I would like to say that Jana Keitsch is so very cool, and I like to swim in the pool with my tools from school. What?

Mostly I like Dunsany because he loves my best friend and I appreciate him for being a bright spot in her life.

But the reason I selfishly like this guy is because he can make a mean polenta lasagna. The guy can COOK.

Is “Rem” short for something? If my daughter had been a son, her name may have been “Rem.”

Ivan is a devotee Home Depot aficionado. And he always eats a hot dog there.

Jana is a devotee scrapbook aficionado.

Jana is the best person to eat with. Over pho, a cookie, or ice cream Jana has dispensed me over one million and one strategic words of advice, anecdotes of strange relevance from her sordid and adventurous past (not to say that living in Burien doesn’t have its own catalog of quirks and adventures), and astute observations about the universe and modern furniture. Without Jana I would probably be a bum on the street by now… with her help at least I’m a bum under a roof.
